My book “Memento Mori – Helping the Church Regain the Lost Art of Dying Well” is almost finished. Here is an endorsement it received from a woman with terminal cancer.
“When my friend Bob Pratico asked me to read his book on Memento Mori, I did so as a 64 year old woman living with terminal cancer. Death is no longer a distant idea for me. It is a coming reality. Yet this book has profoundly changed the way I view that reality. What a book, Bob! I cannot wait for others to read it. Your hard work has certainly been a privilege for me to read and has blessed my heart with peace and joy as I walk my journey.
Memento Mori is a Latin phrase meaning “remember that you must die.” While that may sound somber, it is actually meant to bring clarity. It reminds us that life on earth is temporary and calls us to live with greater purpose, faith, and an eternal perspective. Through careful study of Scripture and thoughtful research, Bob shows that when we understand life through the certainty of death, we begin to live differently. This book helped transform my perspective from fear to peace. It helped me see that I can choose to die well, just as intentionally as I choose how to live each day.
Bob points readers to the words of Scripture, “The last enemy to be destroyed is death” (1 Corinthians 15:26). Because of Christ, death does not have the final word. This book continually directs our hearts to that truth and reminds us of the urgency of sharing the gospel so that others may know the same eternal hope.
Bob has done the hard work of bringing together biblical truth, wisdom, and careful research to show that dying well is a profoundly biblical way to live. As someone walking this road myself, I can say this book has strengthened my heart and clarified my hope.
This book has changed the way I view my own journey, and I wholeheartedly urge others to read it and discover the profound peace that comes from learning to die well.
Yvonne Morris, age 64.”
