Transgenderism, Nihilism, and Frankenstein
Rufo comments on contemporary gender theory that is taught in college, writing:
“they wanted to smash the conception of sex and argue against all traditional notions of human nature, including the biological reality of male and female. This has, understandably, caused enormous frustration, as there is no way to transcend the gender binary [which] is not simply a matter of human biology but a matter of the structure of the cosmos“
This is a very important point – that it is impossible to transcend gender binary which is a “matter of the structure of the cosmos.” When nihilists attempt to skirt reality, they end up down the rabbit hole in Wonderland, where literally anything goes no matter how absurd or wrong, and where their moral compass has ceased to point the way “north” so-to-speak. Their moral compass is spinning around and around, no longer a faithful guide.
Just as Frankenstein represented a supreme assault on God by daring to venture where only God can go, so does transgenderism not only continue the onslaught against divine sovereignty, but exceeds it by mocking Gen 1:27. Transgenderism represents the supreme rebellion against the Creator by willfully defacing His crowning achievement—mankind created in the image of God. Once we dare to participate in the supreme insurrection of transgenderism against God, we open Pandora’s Box. Except this Pandora’s Box has deadly consequences far beyond what we can imagine. Although we claim to be wise, we become fools (Gen 1:22).
Nihilism is inextricably linked to transgenderism. When we buy into transgenderism, we inevitably also buy into nihilism. You cannot have transgenderism without nihilism. If we obliterate the divine distinction between male and female, we “erase reality” and have walked off the cliff into insanity. The definition of insanity is a denial of reality. Embracing transgenderism is akin to passing the “Event Horizon” of a Black Hole, at which point there is no escape barring a supernatural act of God.
In the The Trans Legacy of Frankenstein written by Jolene Zigarovich, the transsexual Susan Stryker (a biological male who is a transgender professor currently at the University of Arizona) admits, “The transsexual body is an unnatural body. It is the product of medical science. It is a technological construction. It is flesh torn apart and sewn together again in a shape other than that which it was born. In these circumstances, I find a deep affinity between myself as a transsexual woman and the monster in Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Like the monster, I am too often perceived as less than human due to the means of my embodiment; like the monster’s as well, my exclusion from human community fuels a deep and abiding rage in me that I, like the monster, direct against the conditions in which I must struggle to exist.” Zigarovich affirms that Stryker’s call for “transsexual embodiment” does not aim to reaffirm gender binaries but seeks instead to attain a “monstrous” subjectivity by declaring “I am a transsexual, and therefore I am a monster.”
This admission jumps out: “I am a transsexual, and therefore I am a monster.”
Stryker betrays himself and unveils the ultimate blasphemy when he admits, “As we rise up from the operating tables of our rebirth, we transsexuals are something more, and something other, than the creatures our makers intended us to be.” Transsexuals shake their fist in the face of the Creator. Stryker rails as one “who achieve(s) the similitude of a natural body only through an unnatural process” to warn fellow creatures that “the Nature you bedevil me with is a lie. Do not trust it to protect you from what I represent.” By capitalizing the word “Nature” and mocking it, Stryker reveals who his ultimate enemy is. Stryker ironically refers to his “rebirth”, mocking Jesus’ affirmation that one must be born again to enter the kingdom of God.
When asked to define a woman at her confirmation hearing, Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson was unable to do so. There is no better example of the lethal effect of nihilism on the culture. In fairness, I suspect that she does indeed know what a woman is but did not answer because of potential political ramifications – which is a worse action. When one denies reality to curry political favor, they have fallen for the siren song of nihilism.
What are the fatal flaws in Nihilism? We can analyze it by applying the grid of Scripture:
Creation – Man is not created in the image of God as a special act of creation by God, There is no essential difference between men and women.
Fall – There is no Fall. There is no ground for moral goodness. Good is nonexistent. There are no transcendent values.
Redemption – Man does not need redemption. We exist in a meaningless world with no moral values for no purpose.
Glorification – History is not moving towards a designed end. Death is the end of existence.
No wonder depression is rampant among nihilists.
Part 5 is here with the conclusion where we examine the end game for transgender nihilism.
