There is an interesting opinion piece here by Nathanael Blake entitled “Reality Strikes Back” with the subtitle “The transgenderism tide is turning, but many destructive lies—and reactions to lies— remain.” He chronicles the increasing pushback against transgender insanity as people begin to acknowledge the deception and madness of the movement. He correctly argues,
“As this demonstrates, the sexual revolution, which gave rise to the gender revolution, has not delivered on its promises. Amid the ensuing cultural wreckage, Christians need not only to defend the reality of our embodiment, but also to show that there is a better way to live, in which our maleness and femaleness are respected and their union in marriage is celebrated. This commitment is meant to be cooperative and complementary, contributing to the well-being of both husband and wife, as well as their children. The fundamental solidarity of the family—mother, father, and child—is rooted in our male and female natures and serves as the indispensable foundation for a flourishing society.”
Reality has a way of inevitably slapping deniers in the face. Figuratively speaking, with the transgender movement, the culture is headed towards a brick wall at 70 mph, insisting that it’s not there. Eventually a collision will occur with the brick wall. There are always consequences when we live in denial of reality. The consequences can range from minor to extreme, depending upon the facet of reality that we deny. If I stub my toe on reality, that is a warning that I am in conflict with truth. If I fail to heed that warning and continue headlong into my fantasy, the consequences become greater and greater as I stubbornly persevere against reality. Eventually, the consequences are fatal. I can insist that gravity does not exist and step off the roof of high-rise building; we call that insanity. It’s also called suicide . . . and that is what sometimes happens when people live in insistent denial of reality. As I chronicled here, that’s why transgenders unfortunately have such an extraordinarily high rate of suicide and suicide attempts.
Apologetics argues for objective truth (reality) that people must live in harmony with in order to flourish. Objective truth always reflects reality. To deny reality is to deny objective truth. Denying reality always ends badly. Finally, here is a video that demonstrates the crushing impact of reality (with its corresponding objective truth) on people who live in denial, and how it makes them very, very uncomfortable when reality strikes back.
