Oregon was the first state in the United States to allow assisted suicide, followed closely by Washington state. (Perhaps this helps explain the current abysmal moral climate in the Pacific Northwest.) To obtain a prescription for the lethal drugs that will be used, eligible patients are required to make two oral requests of a physician (it need not be the same person) separated by at least fifteen days. Recently, the state enacted a waiver provision for cases where the doctor believes that the patient might die during the waiting period.
Huh?
The waiver provision indicates the abysmal state of moral reasoning in Oregon. The possibility of natural death occurring is anathema to Oregonians and thus permits a waiver of the required 15 day period in order to expedite assisted suicide. Oregon is becoming a death cult.
