I remember how different air travel was in the 60s and 70s . . . and how it now is. For those too young to know any different, watch this. Air travel is only one example of how the culture has deteriorated. In general today, men don’t treat women with respect. People increasingly dress like slobs who just rolled out of bed (even at funerals and weddings). Schools need metal detectors and full-time police offcers. Police are scorned and authority is disrespected. Mass shootings are now so common that people simply shrug their shoulders when another one occurs. More people are choosing to avoid marriage. Access to pornography is freely available, even to children. Road-rage incidents are a daily occurence and sometimes result in shootings. Illegal drug use is rampant. Abortion has gone from a shameful act to a badge of honor. Divorce is rampant. Suicide and depression have skyrocketed as nihilism takes hold. Violence and vulgarity are commonplace. Profanity fills movies and entertainment. Race relations have been set back 50 years. Transgender insanity reigns.
But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God (1 Tim 3:1-4)
This is what happens when a culture abdicates from a Judeo-Christian worldview. When a culture holds a Judeo-Christian worldview, that does not mean that everyone is a Christian. It means that the culture generally adheres to the principles of that worldview. I am old enough to remember how dramatically different western civilization was decades ago. We have tragically slid down the slippery slope past the point of no-return and are accelerating towards one of two possible outcomes: (1) catastrophic divine judgment, or (2) widespread repentance and revival with the restoration of a Judeo-Christian worldview. Hopefully option (2) emerges. But I wouldn’t hold my breath.
