The Didache is the earliest post-apostolic Christian church teaching that we possess. Britannica notes that it is “the oldest surviving Christian church order.” It is informative to see what the very early church taught regarding abortion. In chapter 2 we read “You shall not murder a child by abortion nor kill that which is born.” Thus, the earliest church teaching that we have explicitly condemns abortion and infanticide. Those who claim to be Christian and advocate for abortion have departed the historic faith.
